The wages of salvation

with 9 comments

subtitle: waiting for the fall

What price salvation? What did you have to pay for it today? What? It’s free? Says who? Oh. I guess that means you don’t have to give anything up today, right? (grin)

If you haven’t checked out Collide Magazine Blog before, shame on you! Yer suppose to be cool! (grin)

I know you already know about the coolest video ever and Collide Magazine Blog because like all us cool kids, you go to The Digital Sanctuary for your news, articles & insights about technology & the Church, right?

I can’t get enough twitter. In fact, if wordpress.com doesn’t come out with a widget for it soon, I may just have to switch blogging sights. That’s right, I said it. Meanwhile, I’m using twhirl in WindowsXP and twitterfox in Linux. I can’t get twitux to work right, and it wouldn’t be twhirl anyways. Where is my Adobe Air for Ubuntu!

THE POLITICAL INQUIRER asks in it’s post on Gay Marriage in California, “Is it even a big deal?” Geez, I hope so! It’s the kinda stuff I post about.
Filip Spagnoli on the P.A.P. Blog has this to say about it all. I agree! And not just because he’s a self-proclaimed agnostic. (grin)

Myanmar Cyclone Death Toll Nearly 78,000 just in case you weren’t paying attention to what is happening. Oh, and there’s another 56,000 people still missing two weeks after the storm.

Avery Peterson over at THE GREATER LOVE BLOG has a page called For Good People Only. Take a look and see if you are.

I’m volunteering Scott Williams and Anne Jackson to serve us all Roobios tea from Africa. Real stuff, not processed like they have at Starbucks. Scott volunteered to buy everybody a drink. No puny gift cards. I want the real deal! Of course, we’re gonna have to wait until Anne feels better. I wonder what could be done to hurry that along? (grin)

swerve is blogging about One Prayer again. Is it similar to WeTheChurch?

What does this all have to do with the wages of salvation? I dunno. Not an alien. (grin)

What do you think?

  2. anne jackson, actually, thanks to middle-age spread, I’m weeble shaped. Therefore even when I rock, I wobble, but I don’t fall down. (grin)

  3. “You never hear Jesus say in Pilate’s judgement hall one word that would let you imagine that He was sorry that He had undertaken so costly a sacrifice for us. When His hands are pierced, when He is parched with fever, His tongue dried up like a shard of pottery, when His whole body is dissolved into the dust of death, you never hear a groan or a shriek that looks like Jesus is going back on His commitment.” —- Charles Spurgeon

    Salvation is free… but being a bondslave, that’s different…

Everyday the cost is high… from one point of view that is, yet from another, snatching a soul from the fire in exchange is relatively cheap…

    Hebrews 12:2
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God…

Salvation is easy… no one complains or argues about being born.

Labor is hard, and painful, and childbearing is costly…but a parent never once says it isn’t worth it…

  4. Avery, OK, not there, but definitely in the garden and on the cross. (grin)
I’ve often thought we got the wrong message about the humanity of Christ. It wasn’t His physical body, His mental mind, or His imperceptible soul that was perfect. It was His spirit. Which ruled all the rest in submission to His Father’s will. This didn’t stop His body from hurting, His mind from doubting or His soul from cringing at what His spirit willingly submitted all the rest to doing. IMHO, as always. Also, I don’t think you get to do the “snatching”. You tool, you. (grin)
